Thank You Sundog Books!

November 7, 2017

THANK YOU Sundog Books, Linda and Bob White for supporting our efforts to increase non-fiction with our students and your generous donation!

Thank you for $300 worth of books and Sundog Books bookmarks!

This week Mrs. Coleman's first grade class learned about animal characteristics. In order to have the students have a better understanding of different animals and their body functions, we did a wonderful experiment from Mystery Science regarding bird beaks. Students used both a straw and a paper cup to mimic bird beaks. Throughout the excitement, they had to test which beak worked faster in getting food, but also which one was able to pick up food without picking up any rocks. It was truly an amazing hands on activity and one of our favorite lessons so far!
Students at Bay Elementary School are getting a real hands-on lesson in the States of Matter. After reading Dr. Seuss' Bartholomew and the Oobleck, Mrs. Yandell's second grade students explored how "oobleck" changes from a solid to a liquid.

YELLOW Bananas!

September 17, 2017

A COLOR a week in Kindergarten!

Yellow was the color of the week in Mrs. Blount's Kindergarten class.  Students enjoyed their YELLOW Bananas for snack time.  Each week, students  focus on a new color, learn to recognize their color word, stretch their vocabulary learning and enjoy a fun treat.

Make plans to join us on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 5:30 for Open House.  The schedule begins promptly at 5:30 p.m.  Parents will have the opportunity to walk through their children's school day.  You will visit the classroom, see what your student has been working on, learn what to expect for the year, visit art, music, PE and the Media Center.
