Mrs. Spence is originally from Montgomery, AL.  She graduated from Jefferson Davis High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Auburn University.  She earned her Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida.  She holds a Florida Professional Certificate in Educational Leadership and English.  Mrs. Spence is a graduate of the Dr. Brian Dassler's Leadership Institute which is part of the Florida's Commissioner of Education state initiative for developing educational leaders.  

Prior to serving as Principal of Bay Elementary School, Mrs. Spence served as the Assistant Principal at Van R. Butler Elemenatary School and a Teacher on Special Assignment at Emerald Coast Middle School.  She also served as the Executive Director of the Walton Education Foundation, Inc. and Grant Writer for Walton County School District.  She taught English and Intensive Reading to middle school students. She developed the Youth Leadership Program in Walton County and taught Youth Leadership at South Walton High School and Freeport High School.

We are proud to announce Mrs. Jennifer Nick will join the Bay Elementary School family as an Assistant Principal for the 2018-19 school year.  Mrs. Nick has held several teaching and administrative postitions during her 21 year career with the Walton County School District. Before this, she was a speech pathologist with the Montogmery, Ala. County Public School System. She has served as a special education teacher, regular education teacher, instructional coach, and district administrator. Mrs. Nick currently hold's an Educationnal Specialist Degree in Education, Master's Degree in Education and Special Education, and a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Pathology and Education. Mrs. Nick and her husband own and operate Nick's Seafood Restaurant in Basin Bayou. She takes great pride in serving the community and supporting and leading numerous comminity causes. Mrs. Nick and her husband have two children, a daughter Aubree, 16, and a son, Cade, 10. Both attend schools in the Walton County School District.
