Welcome to Bay Elementary School, home of the Barracudas! Bay Elementary is the oldest school still in operation in Walton County. We pride ourselves in the rich traditions and strong academics established since 1938. We take pride in preserving the integrity and historical aspects of our school, as well as educating future leaders.

We have been a K-4 elementary school since 2006, prior to that; BES was an early education center for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. Many, many years ago, BES was a middle school and a K-12 school. Though our hallways have seen many changes at Bay, one thread has remained constant throughout; educating and preparing children for the future.

We are a K-4 school located south of the Choctawhatchee Bay with an enrollment of over 450 students. Our class size average ratio is 1:18 for K thru 3rd grade and 1:22 for 4th grade. Every student receives 30 minutes of intensive small group reading instruction within a 90 minute reading block. Every student also receives 150 minutes of physical education each week, as well as, art and music classes weekly.

Our parents are vital to the success of our school and students. The Parent's Group sponsors an annual Family Festival, and Dinner with Santa in addition to many other events. These family events, along with parent volunteers logged in over 2,500 hours at Bay last year. Volunteers range from serving as a Parent Group leader, to room moms, and volunteering in the media center, or volunteering during family events and fundraisers.

We would like to welcome you to Bay Elementary, where every child is known by their first name! Our school community is a place where children feel safe, respected and encouraged to be themselves. A quality education is guaranteed at Bay Elementary School. If you ever have any questions regarding your child's education at Bay, please feel free to contact me at: spencem@walton.k12.fl.us or call 850-622-5050 ext. 2110.

Mission

To achieve our vision, we will prepare our students to become independent learners with the desires, the skills, and the abilities necessary for lifelong learning. This will require creating a learning environment which is centered around students, directed by teachers, and supported by home and community.
